Collateral Film Trailer & Poster Analysis

Hi again,

I am doing an analysis of my favourite film 'Collateral', I have this film on DVD and I enjoy watching this film every time as it gets me exciting rushes!

In the poster, Cruise looks calm and relaxed he doesn't look stress and seems to be in a good position, in the poster as well he makes the gun look obvious which gives away an idea of what he is prepared to do.

In the trailer, it contains the villain (Cruise) not making a bad impression, then later on it shows his true identity with typical killings and cliffhanging plot at the end. There are running scenes and in some ways 'betrayal'. It also shows club scenes which usually mean something bad will happen in the club.

Thanks!

Analysis of a film trailer

Hi again,

I am analysing a film trailer by noting:
- what genre it is
- my evidence to support my genre of choice

The film trailer I pick is 21 Jump Street!

I have this film on DVD and I really enjoy watching it!

I think this film is an action comedy.

I think this because it involves a pair of 2 underachieving police officers who go into the job to see explosions and have shoot-out's, which does occur in the film. The reason why it is a comedy film as well is because the comedy dominates the action in this film as this film is mostly-well known because of how funny it is!

I suggest you go watch this film as I enjoyed it heavily and it turned out to be one of my favourite films!

Thanks,

Shervin!

Assignment 1 Magazine Cover

Hi,

for assignment 1, we had to design a magazine cover. The magazine would supposedly come free with 'i' newspaper. We also had to analyse to magazine covers (legit ones). I analysed a Top Gear magazine and a OK! magazine.

This was my magazine cover:

- My magazine is called: 'I believe'
- It is aimed at a 18-30 audience
- It is also aimed at a social/working class audience

Thanks for looking,

GCSE Media Work Evaluation 3/10/12

Hi again;

It's Shervin and today I will be telling you about the work we had to complete today (3/10/12).

Today we used PhotoShop to make Colour Palette's and then we coloured a fruit bowl in - sounds easy I know, but its a bit more complicated.

We all had to pick a sort of setting or thing for example: urban, pastel etc...

I made my own one which was 'community' and I chose colours which suit a community; the colours are in the picture below.

These are the colours I thought which would suit a community.

Since I picked 'community' I chose to get a picture of our Chemistry floor in my school (The picture in the corner), and by using the eyedropper I only used colours from the picture. Seems weird? Colours look different - just cause you can zoom in and actually pick a pixel of your choice.

Thanks;

Shervin

Camera Shots

Hello,

today we are learning about camera shots and angles; today I start with camera angles. Their are loads of different ones that we probably see in films - but never really notice or identify them.

A noticeable one is where for instance they are introducing the area Hollywood, and usually they would show a long-shot recording of there sign. They are usually taken from about a quarter mile away, but the main reason for this camera shot is to capture the whole of a building or exterior. You probably don't know what I am talking about...one second let me post the picture.....

This is what I am talking about :P

This is called an 'Extreme Long-shot', you can probably tell by how far away it is.

You might think that their is less than you expected, but reality, their are loads. Another one is just 'Long-shot'. To be very specific, this is very hard to be precise and explain it. For example if someone was 6ft tall, and they would want to capture him in the 'life' size form, they would be a few metres back. So basically its a full shot of the human body. This a good example...

Medium Shot

So basically you can predict the shots are just getting smaller and smaller....and smaller, which is kind of true, but it wouldn't get any bigger would it?

So you and me have seen both Extreme long-shots and long-shots, their also is (you probably guessed it) its a 'Medium shot'.

This is probably a very common bit of a film you would see, this is usually just waist/knees up, NOT the full body...its kinda like this one...

Notice how it only shows Spiderman's waist up...this is a medium shot because Spiderman is the main point of this certain capture.

So you have seen the further shots, now we go to the close up ones! So yeah, the camera angle is called 'Close up' surprising eh? This is when it would show just a certain person/things face, just look at the picture *yawn*

So if you could carry on reading my blog and not look at the baby, I would greatly be appreciated :D, one left so woo!

The last one is an 'Extreme close up' it usually just shows for instance if you were watching some sort of cowboy movie and the would say something and when they said it, it would just show their mouth saying it, its technically that... still don't get what I mean? Here is the picture...

So that's what I mean't but with an eye, not a mouth....

So thanks for reading my blog on camera shots,

HSBC Different Values - Media Evaluation 12/09/12

Hi,

Today we saw HSBC advertisements and we were to take the idea and make our own. The ones you see to your right are my own ones I made - using PhotoShop.

The first one with 3 different pictures are based on my fears, the first picture is an angry teacher (I am not scared of them, just dislike incountering them), the second one being a wasp which I extremely petrified off, third being death, as others I am very scared of death.

The one with the BlackBerry Messanger logo, and I listed each one with a different picture, one with communication, one with interaction and one with havoc. I put the word havoc as the London Riots were also caused through it and it was a main source for organising the riots, attacks and raids. Communication for the most obvious reason, talking to friends. Interaction is with interacting with friends, being able to send voice-notes, pictures, videos and even play games (Caro etc...).

I think I could of improved the first one (top picture) by maybe using a more sophisticated word, instead of 'fear'.

Thanks

Why I chose GCSE Media - GHS....

Hello,

I am Shervin and I go to Greenford High School in the London borough of Ealing and I will post my progress in my GCSE Media course.

I obviously flopped my name, as I am new to blogger.com - being unaware of how to use it
-

Why I chose GCSE Media?

I chose Media as I chose to pursue my career in being a Journalist, particularly a football journalist. Media would be the right way for me to go to reach my ambition. I haven't had any previous experiences with the subject Media so I am hoping it will be a good, challenging and interesting subject. I chose to study Media with no-one else's suggestions or recommendation. Media seems very engaging and seems like a subject where you would have to work with other people, its good to work with students you wouldn't work with as it can boost your confidential skills and team working skills.

Evaluation on Media lesson 6/9/12 *friday

Back to school for the year 2012-2013 and in our first Media lesson for about 45 minutes, we went from table-to-table getting to know other people, by asking what their name, age, interests and last thing they had watch either a film or a television programme. I was very interested in what peoples interest's were, especially Mr Halsey who supports 'the best team ever' - Brentford Football Club. After, we were given a task to produce a magazine, we were told to make a name (My group: Mansoor, Serenna & Abrar; the name of our magazine was Myndless Vybz), make a slogan ("your mind innovates your world"), magazine front page person (Lil Wayne), a price (£1)...(as far as I can remember :P ), our ideas were pretty good, our presentation was awful :D

Thanks,
