Why might the Habbo Hotel news story appeal to an audience?

The story is appealing the audience of Channel's 4 as it appeals to the audience due to the word 'paedophile' being mentioned. There is a major panic for paedophilia as it is highly frown upon and a criminal offence, due to the fact that younger people are much more vulnerable due to the advance in technology and social networking sites becoming highly popular. This type of story will appeal to younger audiences and older audiences which have children, as Channel 4 want the older audience to acknowledge the other ways in which kids can be vulnerable, such as on globally played game websites. Games like Habbo Hotel will be familiar within younger audiences as they may have possibly played this game themselves and this will help them understand the risks of playing this game, as people will sexually groom them online.

The Uses & Gratifications Theory also helps us understand how this story will appeal to audiences, as they want to have the benefit of finding out new information, which can be useful to them or beneficial for them to know. The horrific news which Channel 4 may report can be vital to some people's lives as they rely on the news stations to provide them with informative reports, as they may not find out this type of news elsewhere. Due to us finding it essential to find out some particle news such as the weather, this type of story will be essential and vital for the parents of younger children, as they would want to know something like this.

Furthermore, this story could appeal to anyone which has previously used the site, such as young adults, parents and social workers.

A Level Media

Hi again,

This blog at the moment is currently inactive as I am not doing the course any more obviously.

I think I will be doing Media for my A Levels which is around just over a year later. I think I enjoyed Media GCSE too much not to take it and I think it will benefit for my future.

So for the new GCSE students - Media will definitely be an option as you will enjoy it for sure.

Thanks,

Shervin

End of GCSE Media Course - Overall Year!

Hi Everyone,

As it is now the 7th June 2013, it obviously comes to a point in the UK where you finish an academic year. A month and a day from now I'll be at work experience from July 8th - July 19th which means I won't be at school in the last 2 weeks, school finishing on the last day 19th July. Basically, because it's near the end, I have finished GCSE Media with around 30+ others. The challenging yet decent exam was yesterday which concludes this dedicated and fun journey. I enjoyed GCSE Media a lot, I enjoyed coming to do coursework in the October 2012 - April 2013 period. It just seemed like something daily as I spent nearly every lunch time and after school completing it. After Assignment 3, I got to admit things got really boring, but it is the end and we have about 1 month of chill out lessons. 3 more exams left from this day, which means after next week I have no more exams thankfully.

I think it's safe to agree with all the other year 10s how quickly this academic year has flown by, because I still remember perfectly when I once stayed in school to around 6.00pm finishing coursework in around October!

Media has become a big part of my life, which makes me want to take it in A-Level. I'm going to miss these Wednesday and Friday's spending 6 lessons a week in possibly my favourite subject ever. I've made new friends and became closer with people as coursework (mainly assignment 3) meant we had to get to adapt to each other which we did really well.

I'd like to say a big thank you to a few people:

Daniel Masih
Serenna Mahey
Sadaf Fatima Moosvi
Mr Halsey (My teacher)
Salmaan Shah
Raj Kang

Here is some of my work from over the past year...

And my main Assignment 3 work is this video. (Starring Sabrina and Me)

Collateral Film Trailer & Poster Analysis

Hi again,

I am doing an analysis of my favourite film 'Collateral', I have this film on DVD and I enjoy watching this film every time as it gets me exciting rushes!

In the poster, Cruise looks calm and relaxed he doesn't look stress and seems to be in a good position, in the poster as well he makes the gun look obvious which gives away an idea of what he is prepared to do.

In the trailer, it contains the villain (Cruise) not making a bad impression, then later on it shows his true identity with typical killings and cliffhanging plot at the end. There are running scenes and in some ways 'betrayal'. It also shows club scenes which usually mean something bad will happen in the club.

Thanks!

Analysis of a film trailer

Hi again,

I am analysing a film trailer by noting:
- what genre it is
- my evidence to support my genre of choice

The film trailer I pick is 21 Jump Street!

I have this film on DVD and I really enjoy watching it!

I think this film is an action comedy.

I think this because it involves a pair of 2 underachieving police officers who go into the job to see explosions and have shoot-out's, which does occur in the film. The reason why it is a comedy film as well is because the comedy dominates the action in this film as this film is mostly-well known because of how funny it is!

I suggest you go watch this film as I enjoyed it heavily and it turned out to be one of my favourite films!

Thanks,

Shervin!
